Canto di Lago, translates to ‘Song of the Lake’ , referring to the vineyard where this wine started from. Located next to the shores of Lake Alexandrina in Langhorne Creek. Our vignerons claim that the sound of the gently lapping water is more beautiful for a vine than any other sound and is the elixir of the Mediterranean grape varieties used in this unique blend. Tony Love, The Advertiser, 29th January 2016
“Zonte’s Footsteps 2013 Canto di Lago ($25/Langhorne Creek) uses Barbera as a minor player to sangiovese in a terrific red blend that emphasises the savoury side of the varieties yet still has ripe fruit and crunchy acidity as its finishing edge.”

James Halliday’s Wine Companion 2016

“Bright crimson-purple… A wine in two parts: first red berries on the bouquet and mid-palate, then a karate chop of tannins on the finish.”

Canto di Lago means “song of the lake”. The lake in question is Lake Alexandrina, famous of the Langhorne Creek district (for its cooling effect). Press release recommends that this be consumed with salami pizza. Mmmm, salami pizza.

Rob Geddes, 2016 Australian Wine Vintages, 33rd Edition, p. 459
Exotic light soya sauce, bay leaf and black fruit aromas. The palate is medium dense and medium long with a pretty dark fruit middle palate. Length of earthy ripe fruits with plum, bay leaf and dark berry flavours and a food friendly juicy acid to finish.
